Sheila over at Momfessions is hosting a Diaper Chatter carnival today, and as a mom, of course I have diaper and/or poo stories to share! I didn't realize how much I have shared about that aspect of my life until I started looking back through my archives. I have shared about the first poopy diaper that Hubby had to change. I have shared about my Diaper Nirvana. And I have shared about diaper explosions.
But I haven't shared about the Poo Stepper. I don't remember when the Poo Stepper first made an appearance, but I'm guessing it was early in our diapering career. You know how little ones love to flail and kick when they are placed on their backs for a diaper change. There was more than one occasion when Ladybug (now 20 months) would kick her feet into the poo in the open and exposed diaper. Since I did more diaper changes than Hubby, I learned quickly to fold the diaper back on itself and cover the poo and protect little feet.
Hubby coined this as the Poo Stepper, and it would freak him out. He was trying to juggle enough things as it was: keeping the baby from rolling off the changing table, multiple wipes for cleaning the bum, keeping the clothes out of the poo, and keeping Ladybug's feet out of the poo as well. So the Poo Stepper greatly added to his frustration. Because now he had to clean poo from Ladybug's foot and/or sock and anything else she might have kicked after she stepped in the poo.
I would hear the following cry from the nursery: "Poo Stepper!!!!" And I would know that my assistance was required. Hubby just didn't have enough hands to handle it all.
The Poo Stepper tries to make an occasional reapprearance, but I think we have vanquished it for good. Yeah right. I'm sure the next poopy diaper I have to change will allow the Poo Stepper to try to sneak in once again.
For more great Diaper Chatter, visit Momfessions today. I can't wait to read what everyone has to share. Why is poo so funny to moms?

Hilarious! Isn't parenting so much fun?
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing-- good luck on the giveaways!
Thanks for sharing! I have fun reading all the stories. Swing by my site and read mine too!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing this "poo" story. I made the mistake of reading your blog while eating my lunch...
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I can relate to the Poo Stepper!
I am SO familiar with the Poo Stepper. Way more than I want to be! I have to tell you that my toddler's favorite trick is to reach her hands back behind her as fast as she can to try to dig in the diaper as soon as it's off. EWWWWWWWW! Drives me crazy. I definitely don't have enough hands to deal with all of that.
ReplyDeleteHaha. Too funny. It reminds me of my sister trying to change Shiloh's dirty diaper when she was about 6 months old or so (old enough to squirm and fuss). They both had to be cleaned up and have their clothes changed after she got done. I think that's the only time Beka changed one of Shiloh's dirty diapers. I told her she better take lessons before she has her own kids.
ReplyDeleteThe image of him yelling Poo Stepper! to call for help is hilairous!
ReplyDeleteUuugghh! I know about the poo stepper too! We have had that problem too!
ReplyDeleteawesome! i do the same with our diapers and now i have a name to call it...thanks : )!!
ReplyDeleteThat happens all the time with my little girl. Thanks for giving it a name :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog!
Funny!! Good poo story! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is funny. Yes, we have had the poo stepper moments, as well! When my hubby is changing a "Oh my gosh" diaper, this is what I hear... "Uh HONEY, I need some help in here!" Bless his heart.
ReplyDeleteThat poo stepper sounds WAY too familiar! Usually I get stuck with the poo ones - or at least it's a team effort... :)
