When Pigs Fly

Tuesday, January 20th was an historic day. No, I'm not talking about the inauguration of our first African-American President. It snowed in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. But not for long.

Then, this Wednesday, February 4th, it snowed again. And it actually stuck on the ground. A long time resident informed me that the last time it snowed was 1989, and it snowed more than a foot that time.

I didn't get any pictures of the snow on January 20th. Like I said, it wasn't really impressive. But this week I got pictures. Here is the view out our front door:
Then the view out our back door:
Ladybug and I had to run a few errands as the snow was stopping. And I saw the strangest sight on the way home. A large pig, a very large pig (over 100 lbs) was running parallel to the road in a field. I knew the pigs were there, but I had never see a pig THIS BIG run LIKE THAT! I told Ladybug to look out the window at the pig.

Then it hit me. It snowed in Myrtle Beach. People often use the phrase, "When pigs fly" to describe the impossibility of something like that happening. Maybe this pig was trying to fly!

(Okay, maybe you had to be there. I thought it was funny!)

  6. I think pigs are flying here in Chicago-land. Our snow is melting on the 7th day of February! It was about 50 degrees. It should be 15 right now and not 50 until March or April.

  8. Did you know that I loved in MB during that big snowfall?!?! We went and made snow angels on the beach! It was a riot! My dad was flying A-10s for the AirForce there. I also lived there during Hurricane Hugo- two of MB's infamous weather stories! :)
I'm glad LB got to see some snow. So fun. And the pig thing... hilarous!!

  9. What did Ladybug think of the snow? My little guy loves it, but with 2 feet on the ground lately, I think we've had more than our fair share!

Enjoy the beauty of it. I love the way God paints the world white with snow...it reminds me of our own purity when he forgives our sins.

  12. Hey girlie... A couple of weeks ago I posted a blog with a recipe for snow ice cream from my southern father in law. He made it every day while he was here.

Maybe if you gathered all the snow from your front yard and back you'd have enough to make it. LOL

Hope you enjoyed your little bit of white stuff.
