As the weather warms here in South Carolina, I am looking for more outside activities to do with Ladybug. I know there are few parks around, but I hate the thought of driving somewhere just to play for an hour.
We live in a typical suburban-type subdivision, on a 1/3-acre lot. A smallish backyard with trees, but enough space to put a swing set if we want. I'm curious to know how many of my readers have backyard swing sets/slides/etc. If you do have one, what pieces of the set are "essential," i.e. your child LOVES the swing, the slide, etc?
If you don't have a backyard set, how often do you take your kid(s) to a playground?

We have a little slide set in our back yard that Hailey loves. We'll wait until she's older to do a bigger playground type thingee.
ReplyDeleteI don't go to the playground very often because I think they are dangerous. But that's just me and my paranoid little self.

ReplyDeleteStart with a set you can add onto. What does she like to do at the park? Swing, slide, climb? Start small and add on. It's about what she likes to do.
ReplyDeleteThough they can be a pain in the grass...pun intended, those crushed recycled tired are a softer alternative to bark chips.
Realize though, when you get a set, the neighbor kids will like you (okay, your yard) even more than they do now!
We don't have a set, but want to get one. We do have a slide, but it's so fast that EB can't do the full length of it by herself because it just shoots her off the end! She still loves to slide, though, and wants to be lifted about half way up over & over again. I can't do that any more pregnant. : (
ReplyDeleteSo we'd like a set with a smaller slide and maybe one of those swings that you climb onto with a bench on each side. I think she & David would have fun on that together. I've been searching freecycle & craigslist for this with no luck yet.
