One thing I've done was to buy a bag of dried beans at the grocery store and keep them in a plastic tub with a lid. Ladybug has bowls, spoons, and even her garden trowel to scoop the beans from the tub to a bowl, or onto the floor as she prefers. It's great tactile play and helps with fine motor skills. I only let her play with it in the kitchen on the tile floor (yet I continue to find beans in every room of the house!) for easy clean up (yeah right!). She has fun with the beans, that's what matters, right? Doesn't matter if clean up time causes melt downs, or if Mama has to clean them up all by herself, right? Right? Hello? Is this thing on? Anyone?
Well, ahem. Let's move on to the pictures of the cute toddler. That's why you're here anyway. (slinks away into a corner) This may not work for me, but it does work for Ladybug.

Looks like she a fun time inside :)
ReplyDeleteWhat cute pictures! I have a rice and bean container that my daughter and foster kids play with. Sometimes I will play in it too, very theraputic!
ReplyDeleteI've heard that water play in the kitchen sink is good, too, but we haven't tried that with the Girlie. I imagine she'd get soaked, but at least it would be clean water.
ReplyDeleteWhat great tactile fun. Your girl has a creative mommy
ReplyDeleteOh boy look like your cutie went to town with those treats. Cute shot!
ReplyDeleteGot my WW posted as well..http://upcountrysmiles.com
Aloha,
Cindy
That's so cute! I used to let my kids play with beans too. And rice but usually we took the rice outside! ;)
ReplyDeleteNow that is creative fun!! Just dropped by from WW. (Posted one on my Gravity of Motion blog.) Your little girl is a cutie!
ReplyDeleteso fun! its so rainy here. I am going to have to try this...
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Dried pasta can be fun too. I always worried that beans would go into ears or noses.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! I might have to try that.. I wonder if my little guy would try and eat them!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like she's having fun!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness! i've been away for awhile and she has gotten so big! such a cutie as always!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! How I love that hair!
ReplyDeleteYep, those sensory tubs sound so wonderful and all - but what a mess! I've started putting a towel under the tub - and then just pour the contents back into the tub after play is done. That takes care of the acccidental messing.
But when Esme starts intentionally throwing the contents around, I just pack it all away, much to her dismay. She'll figure it out someday, I hope!
Love it! I recently wrote a similar post to this. I guess all we moms are having the same thoughts as the rain keeps us indoors.
ReplyDeleteLooks like she knows how to find fun indoors! :)
