Mamavation Week #7

Watch Lives Change

One word can describe this week - EXTREMES. I started the week strong, riding high on the 3 lb lost from last week. As the week wore on, I started to feel like I was trudging uphill through three feet of mud. My resolve wore thin, as well as my desire to exercise. The dreaded relative was coming. I was also short on sleep at the beginning of the week, and I failed to do a menu plan.

It wasn't a total FAIL week, but it was rough.

Exercise: I did cardio 6 days out of 7. A few days I really didn't want to and didn't work as hard as I could have. I also did strength training 3 days. That's still new to me, so I'm feeling my way through it.

Food Journal: I kept up with food journaling in spite of the rough week. I know I feel better when I am getting my fruits and veggies and not "wasting" my calories on too much bread. I did have a few weak moments, but was able to keep my calories within range every day.

The Scale: No change. I know I exercised and didn't over-eat, and I know that I'm bloated. Yuck. As I write this, I feel yucky.

Inspiration: Romans 12:1 (The Message), because EVERYTHING I do needs to be for God, including eating right and exercising:

So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.

Here's my menu plan for the week. And here's is my food journal on SparkPeople. Hope y'all had a good week!

  1. Heather you are doing amazing things! Looking at your week I think mentally it was tough because you kicked some serious exercise butt!! Remember as you had strength training your body will get leaner and more toned as you develop muscle. You will see inches gone not necesarily pounds because muscle weighs more than fat. You are inspiring! Keep up the good work! XO

  2. Thank you for the reminder to keep God in the Goal. Sometimes (okay, MOST OF THE TIME) I forget that part.

  4. I think you're doing fantastic! And you made me tired just reading that. I'm not doing nearly as much exercise as your doing. I struggle getting on the elliptical for 20 minutes 3 or 4 times a week, much less 6 or 7! I'm trying to cut my portions in half and/or just eat a "serving" of something rather than just eating as much as I want. It's sooo hard! We've read a book called "Body By God" by Dr. Ben Learner and one thing he tells everyone to do (especially women) is THROW OUT YOUR SCALES! He think scales are terrible at tracking real progress. He thinks we should track our progress by measurements and how our clothes are feeling. I'll admit...I find that hard. I like to see the scale go down! But I'm also trying to focus more on my energy level, how good I feel and keeping track of my measurements.
You're doing awesome. Keep up the good work!

  5. Exercising 6 or 7 days for a week of EXTREMES is great. Many of us have seemed to have a rough week, this really is a good time for us to rally around each other and celebrate our successes. We need the confidence boost going into this week.

  8. You're doing great! Keeping yourself on track when you don't want to takes a huge amount of strength, so count this week as a victory!

  9. Seems we all have had an off week, wierd how that is. I think even if you do 5 exercises a week it's a huge accomplishment, kudos for the 6 out of 7! You really are doing great!

  12. Great getting all your cardio in! Awesome for getting some weight/resistance work in. Remember the key to that is keeping proper form!

No loss this week is OK...it's tough when our hormones take hold of our bodies. Next week will be great for you though!

  13. Six out of seven days, AND you added strength training? Heather, that's fantastic! AND can help explain the number on the scale - say it with me, "muscle weighs more than fat". You know it's true. So, focus on how you feel and how your clothes fit a lot more than the scale, and KEEP IT UP!

  16. Heather, you are doing so well. Even in a rough week you still made time for exercise 6 days. That's huge! The old you probably wouldn't have bothered. Hope things went well with the dreaded relative. Have a better week! hugs

  17. You worked out 6 days out of 7! That's already a big accomplishment. Don't be too hard on yourself, sometimes, the body just needs a break, especially if you lack sleep... Way to go, girl! --- @ImAHotMom at Young And Fabulous

  18. How your week was is how I'm feeling today. I want to do well, of course I do, but I'm tired right now. We all feel that way at some times. I plan to do my best to keep on the path, and the resolve will come back, eventually. Good luck this week. You can do it!
