Ten Questions the Lost Finale Didn't Answer (And I'm Okay with That)

If you haven't seen the Lost finale yet, then don't read this. Fair warning - spoilers ahead!

In the six seasons of Lost, tons of mysterious things happened on and off the island. I know so many fans who were hoping for lots of answers in the finale. Well, we got some. But there are still a lot of unanswered questions.

I'm totally okay with unanswered questions. I loved the finale. I love all six seasons. It was an amazing series. I guess we'll have to answer these questions in our imaginations (our write our own screen plays!).

1. What happened to Walt?

2. If the Flash Sideways scenes were the characters' journey to heaven, did Jack really have a son?

3. How long did Hurley serve as Protector of the Island?

4. Who was the first Protector? Was it Mother or was she chosen for that position?

5. What was the significance of Dogen, the Temple, and the healing pool?

6. How did Smokey "infect" Claire and Sayid?

7. What was the point of the Dharma Initiative?

9. Who built the statue? (Was that question answered? I can't remember!)

10. Why did Desmond have special powers to withstand electro-magnatism?

But as someone said in a Lost discussion post I read yesterday, this was about characters and their relationships. We didn't get answers, but we did get stories. I love that!

What was your favorite moment from the finale of Lost?

  1. Oh baby. You know I love this post. Let's see...
    1. Walt. I have no idea. I think they just wrote him out b/c the actor got too old! ha!
    2. I really think no. I think everyone besides our Losties were not real...just like that entire purgatory sideways wasn't real.
    3. Now that would make a good spin-off show: Hurley & Ben Run The Island!
    4. *shudder* Yes, a good backstory on Other Mother and The Island would be cool.
5.I wonder if the healing pool was like some water from The Light? But yeah, who were they worshipping? Or was that something Jacob just made up?
    6. Good question. Did he just dupe them? Or were they really infected? (See, I think so much of this goes back to Jacob's "rules"...I don't think a lot of it was mythology, just the way Jacob ran it!)
    7. They just recognized The Island's properties and wanted to analyze it. They just got annihilated by Ben.
    8. (you forgot an 8! ha!)
9.I forget...was it there when Jacob/ManInBlack's mom washed ashore?
    10. Hmmm...wonder if HE was born on The Island?

Could talk about LOST forever. *sniff*

  2. My favorite moment was definitely the Charlie/Claire reunion. Charlie was my favorite character pretty much since the beginning, and I was so glad to see him (and a sane Claire) get a happy ending!

  3. My favorite part was when Claire and Charlie were brought together again and the part where Sawyer and Juliet were brought together again. Great questions cause I have all the same ones. The one about Walt though I heard was because he grew to like over 6ft tall, so they just left him out.

  4. I have another question...why was Aaron still a baby in the sideways flashes? Presumably, he would have grown up, right?

I just loved it. Especially seeing Sun and Jin alive again...

  5. We are so behind on the series that we just get them from the library now. I think hubby has this season on hold right now ;)

I think thats a bummer that there are so many questions unanswered like that. I personally got tired of being led on for so long. I got tired of the tangled web that seemed to get longer and longer or keep me hanging with unanswered questions.

But since you say you loved it, that gives me a bit of hope that I will enjoy watching it nevertheless.

  6. My question, why wasn't Mr. Eko in the finale?

  7. Love it, I don't think Jack really had a son, and my favorite moment was the Sawyer and Juliet reunion. Totally agree with Heather Solos, we were hoping Mr. Eko and his walking Stick of Scripture would show up.

  8. About #2 - in the finale near the end, when Jack and Locke were talking in the hospital room as Jack was leaving for the concert, Jack must have said something about his son (I didn't notice), but Locke said, "You don't have a son." So, I think that was the answer to that one.

  9. Everyone asks about Walt, but didn't they show that he lives with his grandmother and was going to school, having a normal life? In "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham" Locke saw him and there was such an awkwardness between them, it seemed clear that Walt had moved on past his time on the island. Locke wished him well and said goodbye. I thought that was all there was to it, but maybe I'm mistaken?

Favorite part? Claire and Charlie. They could've done almost anything else they wanted with the finale, but as long as they had that reunion just the way it was, I was satisfied. Bawled my eyes out.

Second place goes to Sayid and Shannon's reunion. (And did you notice who set that up? Hints that Hugo would be in charge of the island, don't you think?)
